SUCCESS! Our 2023 Neighborhood Cleanup Event was FUN! Sign up for our next one set for Saturday, March 4!
More than 25 neighbors showed up at Woodcrest Park on Saturday, February 4, 2023 to volunteer an hour or two to clean up our Woodcrest Houston neighborhood. Organized by neighbor Teena Davis, the nonprofit Houston ToolBank loaned “collapsible reacher” trash pickers and blue-rimmed trash baggers — along with work gloves, safety vests, and garbage bags — for volunteers to use free of charge. About 24 bags of trash were collected, mostly along Allen Street, then were transferred to available trash bins offered by participating neighbors. Interesting finds included three urns, a tombstone, two weed eaters, a backpack of books, and a leather tote.
SAVE THE DATE! Our next volunteer TRASH BASH neighborhood cleanup event is set for Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 10am to 12 noon. The goal is to keep this as a monthly event on the first Saturday (summer hours may change to 9am to 11am).
