CONSTRUCTION ALERT: W.O.W. Roundabout is getting a much-needed facelift!
NO MORE BUMPY RIDES! Council Member Abbie Kamin has smoothed the way for the City of Houston to repair and improve the roads and area surrounding the Washington on Westcott (W.O.W.) Roundabout. Construction expected to begin within 90 days (April) and continue through the summer of 2023.
Funded by Kamin’s lane repair and service dollars, these priority improvements include repaving the streets, repairing the curbs and brick pavers, and, perhaps most important to the neighbors who live in Woodcrest Houston, Rice Military, Crestwood, and Camp Logan, adding raised crosswalks for the safety of everyone who walks, runs and rides from their homes to Memorial Park!
As construction approaches, Kamin’s office will share final plans for traffic management. The expected construction will require at least two weekends of a total closure of the W.O.W. Roundabout that involves planned detours.
Thanks to Houston Public Works, community leaders from Super Neighborhood #22, Memorial Park Elementary School, and our civic clubs — including Woodcrest Houston — for working with Kamin’s office and the City of Houston to make this happen.
